Who were the top boys soccer players in Iowa?
The Iowa high school boys soccer season is now in the rear-view with the crowning of state champions. But that means this is the perfect time to look back at some of the top players from the season.

Sergio Mijangos, Bishop Heelan, Senior
What a way to go out it was for Mijangos, as he tallied a state-leading 45 goals in 20 matches. He also had 18 assists, finishing with 108 total points.
Eddy Fuentes-Cruz, Webster City, Senior
Fuentes-Cruz became one of just a handful of players in the history of Iowa soccer to reach 100 goals, finishing this past year with 44 to go along with 14 assists.
Kyle Irwin, Council Bluffs St. Albert, Junior
Irwin will head into next year as the leading returning goalscorer after tallying 39. He also had 17 assists for the Falcons.
Luc Schumacher, Maquoketa, Junior
Another underclassmen who posted goals in bunches, Schumacher finished with 36 this past year.
Alessandro Markomichelakis, Burlington/Notre Dame, Senior
Markomichelakis recorded points as he does letters in his last name, scoring 34 times with 10 assists.
Jovany Kabongo, Le Mars, Senior
Kabongo scored 33 goals this past year in just 16 matches played.
Ethan Van Arendonk, Pella Christian, Senior
It was a big year to cap off his career, as Van Arendonk tallied 31 goals.
Andres Gonzalez, Bishop Heelan, Senior
Gonzalez led the state with 27 assists in 20 matches, adding 21 goals on the year.
Pablo Mendez, Valley, Senior
Mendez controlled the Tiger offense, scoring 13 goals while dishing out 25 assists.
Adriene Robles, Lewis Central, Junior
Robles will look to build off his 20-20 campaign, as he scored 23 goals and had 22 assists in 17 matches.
Drew Sundine, Hudson, Senior
Teams peppered Sundine with goals all season long, and he was a brick-wall, saving 106 shots while allowing just eight goals.
Carter Hermiston, Tipton, Senior
With a save percentage of over 86, Hermiston finished with 205 saves while allowing just 33 goals in over 1,300 minutes played.
Jose Aragon-Mendez, Hampton-Dumont/CAL, Senior
Aragon-Mendez sported the highest save percentage in the state at just over 89 percent. He saved 173 shots and allowed just 21 in almost 1,200 minutes played.
