When will Viktor Gyokeres make his first Arsenal start – and who will the club sign next?

Viktor Gyokeres is expected to be included in Arsenal's squad for their pre-season fixture against Tottenham Hotspur in Hong Kong on 31 July.

The Swedish striker completed his move from Sporting CP over the weekend in a deal worth up to 73m euros (£64m).

He underwent a medical on Saturday before flying to Singapore, where he joined up with Mikel Arteta's squad for the remainder of their Asia tour and was presented to supporters ahead of the game against Newcastle.

Gyokeres becomes Arsenal's sixth signing of a busy summer, following the arrivals of Martin Zubimendi, Noni Madueke, Christian Norgaard, Cristhian Mosquera and Kepa Arrizabalaga.

"We are super happy to have Viktor with us," said Arteta

"It has been a long journey to get him over here. He has been incredible. It was very clear from the beginning where he wanted to play and how passionate I felt from day one when we first spoke.

"We will assess him tomorrow. To get him up to speed with the right levels. We’re not going to stop him and speak to the medical team."

Arteta's side have finished runners-up in each of the last three Premier League seasons, but with the squad now bolstered in key areas, the aim is to go one better and claim a first league title in over two decades.

The 27-year-old arrives off the back of a standout season in Portugal, where he scored 39 goals and provided seven assists in all competitions.

Gyokeres could make his first appearance in Arsenal colours on Sunday 31 July when the Gunners face Tottenham Hotspur in Hong Kong.

Arsenal v Tottenham Hotspur Thursday, July 31, 12:30 UK time, Singapore
Arsenal v Villarreal Wednesday, August 6, 18:00 UK time, London
Arsenal v Athletic Club Saturday, August 9, 17:00 UK time, London

That fixture kicks off at 12:30 BST and may see the new arrival feature from the bench.

Looking further ahead, the Gunners open their Premier League campaign away at Manchester United on Sunday 17 August, with kick-off at Old Trafford scheduled for 16:30 BST.

Meanwhile, Eberechi Eze is understood to favour a switch to the Emirates, with sources close to the player confident that a deal could be agreed in the coming weeks.

Crystal Palace are looking for a fee in excess of £65million for Eze and have already agreed personal terms with highly-rated Nice striker Evann Guessand.
