U.S. Open cut line 2025: Bryson DeChambeau, Justin Thomas among golfers to miss cut at Oakmont
Two rounds of the U.S. Open are (almost) in the books, and it has been as difficult as advertised so far.
The vast majority of the field shot over par in the first two days, with only a handful of players ending Friday under par. That pushes the cut line back further than a typical golf tournament, with higher scores making it through the weekend.
The U.S. Open sets an exclusive cut line meant to cut the field down for the final two rounds, and this year it sent home many big names. Players like Bryson DeChambeau, Justin Thomas, and Dustin Johnson all failed to qualify for the final two rounds.
While the second round ended in a rain stoppage, the cut line has largely been decided for the weekend. Here's a full look at the projected cut line for the 2025 U.S. Open and the notable names that were on the wrong side.

U.S. Open cut rules
The top 60 players (plus ties) make the 36-hole cut to advance and play the weekend at the U.S. Open. As many as 96 participants could be cut from the 156-man field.
Among the four major tournaments, only the Masters Tournament has a harsher cut line. In Augusta, only the top 50 players and ties make the cut, and the field is also traditionally less than 100 players.
In comparison, the Open Championship and PGA Championship each accept the field's top 70 players (plus ties).
