Texas Longhorns QB Arch Manning receives NFL draft prediction from college football analyst

Arch Manning is the most prominent story in college athletics.

After a pair of seasons riding the pine, the nephew of Peyton and Eli Manning will finally get his chance to start under center and try to help the University of Texas hoist a fifth national title.

The Longhorns have one of the most loaded rosters in the country, but their success will likely be contingent on the play of their 21-year-old quarterback, who will have to face a daunting upcoming schedule. Arch has all the tools to be a top selection in the NFL Draft eventually, but one college football analyst envisions that timeline to be a bit longer than some might expect.

While appearing on "The Herd," writer Bruce Feldman suggested that he believes Arch could return for his senior season in Austin.

"I don't expect him to be a pick at the end of this year," Feldman said. "Just knowing his parents and the Mannings a little bit, they know it's in his best interest to keep getting reps and game action. Just to be a one-year starter, even if everything goes great, there's still going to be some hesitation around whether he's ready. He's in a really good position, but you can't put a price on time."

There has to be a whiff of concern with Arch after he was unable to take the job from Quinn Ewers last season, who was playing on a torn oblique and struggling to lead a talented Texas attack.

If he truly just needed another year to learn in the shadows, it would be unlikely that he would be a superstar out of the gate in this upcoming campaign.

Given how lucrative the NIL space has become, there's little incentive to leave school early unless you're guaranteed to be the first name off the board.

Arch should take the process slowly and evaluate his options after the season.
