Matz Sels of Nottingham Forest currently leads the Premier League clean sheets tracker for the 2024/25 season, surpassing Arsenal's David Raya, the previous season's Golden Glove winner. Raya, who was expected to defend his title, has been a key player in Arsenal's strong defense, helping the team secure a second-place finish and a deep run in the Champions League. Everton's Jordan Pickford remains a contender for the Golden Glove, though he needs to close the gap with Sels and Raya. The Golden Glove is awarded to the goalkeeper with the most clean sheets in a season, with the award shared in case of a tie, as seen in previous seasons. This season's standings are closely monitored, reflecting the competitive nature of the league's top goalkeepers vying for this prestigious accolade.

Premier League clean sheets tracker: Sels leads Golden Glove standings in 2024/25 EPL season

Matz Sels has emerged as a surprising leader in the Golden Glove race, playing a pivotal role in Nottingham Forest's strong performance and their challenge for a Champions League spot.

David Raya, last season's Golden Glove winner with 16 clean sheets, remains a significant contender, contributing to Arsenal's robust defense and their second-place finish in the Premier League.

Jordan Pickford of Everton, last season's runner-up, is still in the hunt for the Golden Glove, although he needs to catch up with Sels and Raya to clinch the award this season.

The Golden Glove is a prestigious award given to the goalkeeper with the most clean sheets in a Premier League season; if tied, it is shared, as happened in the 2021/22 season with Ederson and Alisson.

Petr Cech holds the record for the most clean sheets in a single season, achieving 24 during the 2004/05 campaign with Chelsea.

This season's clean sheets tally is closely tracked by The Sporting News, ensuring fans are updated on the progress of top goalkeepers throughout the Premier League matches.

The competition for the Golden Glove highlights the tactical and defensive strengths of top Premier League teams, underscoring the critical role of goalkeepers in achieving success.

Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya was the winner of the Premier League Golden Glove award for 2023/24.

The Spaniard finished with 16 clean sheets, underlining the Gunners' defensive strength throughout a campaign in which they finished just short in a title race eventually won by Manchester City.

At the start of the season, Raya was thought likely be the man to beat again in 2024/25, with his main contenders expected to come in the form of Man City's Ederson and Liverpool No. 1 Alisson. However, Arsenal's early struggles opened the door for other more surprising challengers such as Andre Onana of Man United and Matz Sels of Nottingham Forest.

As the season has worn on, it's been Sels who has taken command of the race, helping lead Nottingham Forest into a challenge for a Champions League place. He's been chased closely by Raya, who has been a key component of Arsenal's smothering defence as they secure a second-place finish in the Premier League and make a deep Champions League run.

Everton's Jordan Pickford was runner-up in last season's Golden Glove race, and England's No. 1 is firmly in the hunt again this time around, although he has ground to make up.

What is the Premier League Golden Glove award?

The Golden Glove is awarded to the goalkeeper who keeps the most clean sheets in a single Premier League season. A 'clean sheet' refers to a full game in which a team does not concede a goal.

If more than one keeper has managed the same number of shutouts in a single season, the Golden Glove prize is shared. That happened in 2021/22 when Manchester City's Ederson and Liverpool's Alisson each kept 20 clean sheets for their respective sides.

The award has been given out every season since the 2004/05 campaign. Petr Cech of Chelsea was the first winner, managing 24 clean sheets in that campaign for Chelsea — a figure that is still the single-season record in the competition.

Last season, David Raya won the award after managing 16 shut-outs for Arsenal, who finished second in the standings behind champions Manchester City.
