MLB trade deadline tracker: Live rumors, news, updates before 2025 deadline

JUMP TO:

It's officially crunch time for MLB clubs to make last-minute additions.

The 2025 MLB trade deadline arrives at 6 p.m. ET on Thursday, marking the last opportunity for teams to either go all-in on a playoff push or sell on high-end talent with their eyes on the future. This year, there aren't too many true superstars known to be available on what's become a seller's market, but there are still some captivating names who could be on the move.

In the National League, expect teams like the Dodgers, Mets, Phillies, Cubs, and Brewers to stock up on talent, especially in their bullpens, as they trend toward locking in playoff spots. In the American League, two division races could come down to deadline additions, as the AL East remains tight between the Blue Jays, Yankees, and Red Sox, while the Rangers and Mariners are eyeing the Astros' lead in the AL West.

The teams that choose to heavily sell could also wind up as huge deadline winners. Will the Orioles (47-58) bite on offers for Ramon Laureano or Cedric Mullins? Could the Diamondbacks (51-55) focus on 2026 by selling on Eugenio Suarez, Merrill Kelly, or Zac Gallen? With a flurry of trades on the way across the league, it will be easy to lose track of who's going where.

The Sporting News is tracking live updates on every deal and the latest rumors leading up to the 2025 MLB trade deadline. Follow along with it all below.

According to Chandler Rome, there is one prospect going back to Minnesota in the Correa deal, with the Twins also eating some of the money, and according to Jon Morosi, the Astros will pay a "majority" of Correa's remaining deal.

Per Chandler Rome, the prospect in return for Correa will be LHP Matt Mikulski.

Astros were interested in Ryan O'Hearn, but Marlins' Jesus Sanchez now team's focus

Houston had its eye on Orioles DH Ryan O'Hearn, but Feinsand reports that the Astros have now turned to the Marlins' Jesus Sanchez, who is "high on Houston's radar." Sanchez is hitting .256 with 10 home runs and 36 RBIs this season.

Diamondbacks in talks with Red Sox about Merrill Kelly

Arizona is "in talks" with Boston about a trade involving starter Merrill Kelly, per Romero. Nunez ranked as the Mets' No. 14 prospect and Gomez as their No. 30 prospect, per MLB.com.

Cedric Mullins still a possibility for Mets

Orioles center fielder Cedric Mullins is still considered a possible target for the Mets, who have yet to acquire the outfield bat they've been connected to. With little progress on Luis Robert Jr., who may stay with the White Sox, Mullins is an option for New York.

Dodgers acquire right-handed reliever Brock Stewart from Twins

The Dodgers are acquiring reliever Brock Stewart from Minnesota. Stewart is in the midst of a career season, throwing 34.0 innings with a 2.38 ERA and 41 strikeouts so far.

Per Bobby Nightengale, the Twins are receiving outfielder James Outman in exchange for Stewart. Outman has hit .289 with 20 HR and 74 RBI in Triple-A this season.

White Sox may hold onto Luis Robert Jr.

Chicago has talked with teams about Robert, but it's "more likely he stays" with the White Sox through the deadline, per Feinsand. He added that teams have not met Chicago's asking price for the outfielder and the White Sox would likely pick up his $20 million option for 2026, hoping to see more of "what they've seen over the past month."

Steven Kwan deal viewed as 'increasingly likely'

Cleveland trading All-Star outfielder Steven Kwan is viewed as "increasingly likely," per Morosi. A three-time Gold Glover and two-time All-Star, Kwan is hitting .286 with nine home runs, 38 RBIs and a .758 OPS this season.

Finnegan was an All-Star in 2024, when he pitched to a 3.68 ERA with 38 saves in 63.2 innings. He hasn't been quite as great in 2025, but will still make for a strong addition to Detroit's bullpen with a 4.38 ERA and 32 strikeouts in 39.0 innings this season.

Jon Morosi reported that Detroit was in pursuit of Ryan Helsley on Wednesday before he was traded to the Mets. Instead, the Tigers pivot for another top closer off the market in Finnegan.

Padres could keep Cease, Suarez as they continue 'going for it'

While some reports have indicated that San Diego would move on from Dylan Cease and Robert Suarez following the A's deal, both Heyman and Bob Nightengale reported that there is a chance the Padres keep the two star pitchers.

Heyman wrote that it "shouldn't be assumed" that Cease/Suarez will be moved, while Nightengale reported that San Diego has "no plans" to move Suarez and "may keep" Cease as well.

Padres have had extensive talks on Steven Kwan, Jarren Duran

In even more Padres news, Olney reports that the team has had "extensive talks" with the Red Sox about acquiring star outfielder Jarren Duran, but Boston continues to say no. However, the Padres are also targeting Cleveland's Steven Kwan, and Olney reports that some executives "fully expect the Padres" to get either Kwan or Duran.

Olney added that a potential bat acquisition for San Diego could involve them moving Dylan Cease/Robert Suarez, but they may need a third team in order to trade for Steven Kwan since the Guardians won't be interested in a rental starter like Cease.

Padres now 'likely' to move Dylan Cease, Robert Suarez following A's deal

San Diego, which was known to have interest in both buying and "selling" at the deadline, is now considered "likely" to move on from starter Dylan Cease and reliever Robert Suarez following its blockbuster deal to acquire Mason Miller and J.P. Sears.

Olney added that the Tigers, Mariners, Cubs, Yankees and Astros could be players for Suarez, and the Padres' focus is on adding younger players with team control.

Padres land A's star closer Mason Miller, starter J.P. Sears

In yet another blockbuster reliever trade, the Padres are acquiring A's star closer Mason Miller along with starter J.P. Sear, per Passan. In return, San Diego is sending shortstop Leodalis De Vries, who is considered the No. 3 overall prospect in baseball, along with RHP Braden Nett, RHP Henry Báez and RHP Eduarniel Nuñez.

Miller is in his third year in the big leagues, and he very quickly became one of the best closers in MLB. He was an All-Star in 2024, and so far in 2025, he's posted a 3.76 ERA and 59 strikeouts in 38.1 innings. With Miller under club control until 2030, the Padres land a swing-and-miss bullpen option for years to come.

San Diego is also getting a solid starter in the lefty Sears, who owns a 4.95 ERA in 22 starts this season.

De Vries, an 18-year-old shortstop, is a switch-hitter that's considered one of the best prospects in baseball. In A+ this season, he's hit .245 with eight home runs and 46 RBIs.

According to MLB.com, the Padres gave up their No. 1 (De Vries), No. 3 (Nett), No. 13 (Baez) and No. 17 (Nuñez) prospects to acquire Miller and Sears.

Carlos Correa reunion in Houston still a possibility following Urias deal

Carlos Correa was connected to the Astros as a potential trade piece on Wednesday, presumably to fill in for the now-injured Isaac Paredes. Sewald is expected to join the Tigers' active roster in early September, per Jon Morosi.

Blue Jays acquire Shane Bieber from Guardians

Toronto wins the Bieber sweepstakes as it will acquire the Cleveland starter in a one-for-one deal involving Khal Stephen. Bieber has been working his way back from Tommy John surgery with rehab assignments and now joins a Blue Jays team that sits atop the AL East with just over 50 games remaining.

Giants' Camilo Doval is being mentioned in trade scenarios

San Francisco's closer "is now being discussed in possible trade scenarios," per Heyman, who added that of the many available relievers, not all will be moved. Doval has 15 saves this season and as the Giants slump, they could look to make a deal with the aim of focusing on the bigger picture.

A Marcell Ozuna trade appears unlikely

As the trade deadline nears, "there doesn't appear to be any traction for a Marcell Ozuna deal," per Olney. Ozuna has 10-5 rights to veto any trade he is involved in and it appears the teams he would waive that right for are not interested enough in the Braves' DH.

Cubs are among teams pursuing Cleveland's Shane Bieber

Chicago is "still in the market for another starter" and is in pursuit of Bieber. It's been 15 months since Bieber underwent Tommy John surgery, and he continues to impress in rehab assignments, most recently working four innings with Double-A Akron Tuesday. The Cubs have been impressed and could make a play for the 30-year-old.

Padres 'working' on possible Mason Miller trade

San Diego is in talks to acquire A's closer Mason Miller, per The Athletic's Jon Heyman. Miller was "unavailable" in a closing situation Wednesday night but not because of injury, adding fuel to speculation that he could be moved.

The Cubs are acquiring veteran reliever Andrew Kittredge from the Orioles; Baltimore's return is not yet reported. Kittredge, 35, has a 3.56 ERA across 30.1 innings this season with a 1.12 WHIP and 9.2 strikeouts per nine innings.

Per Jake Rill, the Orioles are getting SS prospect Wilfri De La Cruz in return for Kittredge.

Mariners swing blockbuster deal for Eugenio Suarez

The Mariners are bringing back 3B Eugenio Suarez for a second stint, acquiring the prized slugger from the Diamondbacks in exchange for 1B Tyler Locklear, P Hunter Cranton and P Juan Burgos. Suarez, who spent the 2022 and 2023 seasons in Seattle, has 36 home runs this season and has six 30-home run seasons in his 12-year career. The Mariners also traded for Suarez's Diamondbacks teammate Josh Naylor last week.

Cardinals send lefty Steven Matz to Red Sox

The Red Sox have agreed to acquire reliever Steven Matz from the Cardinals in exchange for first base prospect Blaze Jordan. Matz, a former starter with the Mets and Blue Jays, has functioned as a near full-time reliever with the Cardinals this season, posting a 3.44 ERA and 2.88 FIP over 55 innings.

Astros land Ramon Urias from Orioles

With Isaac Paredes out long-term, the Astros acquired 3B Ramon Urias from the Orioles in exchange for pitching prospect Twine Palmer. Urias is having the worst offensive season of his career by OPS+, but he posted a .745 OPS in 2024 and is under contract through 2026. Palmer, 20, was a 19th-round pick in 2024 but has a 2.13 ERA in A ball this season.

Reds acquiring Zack Littell from Rays in 3-team deal

The Reds have agreed to acquire starter Zack Littell from the Rays, with Tampa Bay receiving catcher Hunter Feduccia and pitcher Brian Van Belle while the Dodgers acquire catcher Ben Rortvedt and pitchers Adam Serwinowski and Paul Gervase. Littell developed from a journeyman into a reliable starter with the Rays, displaying some of the best control in baseball but struggling with 26 home runs allowed this season. Littell, who started Wednesday against the Yankees, has a 3.58 ERA on the season.

Tigers swing minor deal for Rafael Montero

The Braves announced they traded reliever Rafael Montero to the Tigers for infield prospect Jim Jarvis. Montero was a key part of the Astros' World Series-winning bullpen in 2022, but he has struggled ever since and had a 5.50 ERA in 36 appearances with Atlanta this season.

Cubs land pitching depth with deal for Michael Soroka

The Cubs acquired starter Michael Soroka from the Nationals, sending INF prospect Ronny Cruz and OF prospect Christian Franklin to Washington. Soroka, once a standout young starter with the Braves beset by two Achilles tears, has a 4.87 ERA as a starter this season but a more promising 4.12 FIP and improved control compared to 2024. Soroka operated as both a reliever and starter last season, so he is familiar with the bullpen if that's where the Cubs stick him.

Padres interested in Red Sox star Jarren Duran

San Diego retains an interest in Red Sox star Jarren Durran, per The Athletic's Ken McCaffrey. Duran finished eighth in AL MVP voting last year. He's improved his production as of late, posting a 1.210 OPS in his last seven appearances.

New York fortified its bullpen with its latest move, which sees Ryan Helsley join the side ahead of the stretch run. The former Cardinals pitcher posted a 3.00 ERA across 36.0 innings in St. Louis this year. He figures to slot in as a potential setup for the Mets.

New York, meanwhile, parted ways with shortstop Jesus Baez, right-handed pitcher Nate Dohm and right-handed pitcher Frank Elissalt in exchange for Helsley. Baez and Dohm were the No. 8 and No. 14 prospects in the Mets' farm system, respectively.

Phillies acquire Jhoan Duran in exchange for pair of top-100 prospects

The Phillies reportedly landed Duran, parting way with top prospects Eduardo Tait and Mick Abel. Tait, 18, is the No. 56 prospect in baseball, a Panamanian backstop whose hit tool projects to be above average. Abel, 23, is baseball's No. 92 prospect, known for his wondrous stuff — albeit he's been felled by control issues in the past.

Phillies 'close' to acquiring Twins closer Jhoan Duran

Philadelphia is "close" to acquiring Twins star closer Jhoan Duran, per Rosenthal. It's known that Minnesota was seeking a hefty return for Duran, who isn't a free agent until 2028 and has been a shutdown option in the Twins' bullpen since 2022.

Duran has a 2.01 ERA and 53 strikeouts in 49.1 innings this season. Rosenthal did not call the deal complete quite yet, with a potential return package still unknown.

Giants open to trading Justin Verlander, per report

San Francisco is open to shopping around Justin Verlander, according to MLB Network's Jon Morosi. The 42-year old has endured a bit of a checkered season, but he's surrendered just one run in his past two starts.

Mariners continue trade deadline scramble, add southpaw Caleb Ferguson

It's evident that Seattle is looking to beef up its bullpen at this year's deadline. The Mariners added left-handed reliever Caleb Ferguson to its collection of arms on Wednesday. The 29-year old posted a 3.74 ERA with 34 strikeouts in 43.1 innings with the Pirates this season.

Seattle sent pitching prospect Jeter Martinez to Pittsburgh in return. The 19-year old is the No. 13 prospect in the Mariners' farm system, per MLB Pipeline.

Mariners 'making a play' on Jhoan Duran

Seattle is "making a play" to acquire Twins closer Jhoan Duran, who has been the subject of more rumors on Wednesday. The expectation remains that Duran is traded on Wednesday, and the Mariners remain in the mix.

Mets acquire RHP Tyler Rogers from Giants

The Mets are trading for RHP Tyler Rogers from San Fransisco. The reliever has a 1.80 ERA in 50.0 innings this season, as he should make for a strong addition to New York's bullpen as it pursues a division title.

Tyler joins his twin brother, Taylor, as a trade piece Wednesday. Taylor Rogers was traded from Cincinnati to Pittsburgh earlier in the day.

Per Jeff Passan, the Giants are getting RHP Blake Tidwell, OF Drew Gilbert and RHP José Butto in the deal with the Mets.

Red Sox showing interest in Yandy Diaz

Boston is "showing interest" in Rays first baseman Yandy Diaz, and they "could intensify efforts in the coming hours."

Romero notes that Tampa Bay is "unlikely to move Diaz without a strong return, either upper-level prospects or an MLB player."

Twins 'expected' to trade closer Jhoan Duran, Dodgers and Phillies linked

Minnesota's interest in trading closer Jhoan Duran has been up in the air, but Nightengale reports that the Twins are now "expected" to deal Duran. He adds that the Dodgers are "in strong pursuit," while the Phillies have also "been in heavy discussions" for Duran.

However, Minnesota has reportedly not lowered its asking price of Philadelphia's top prospect, pitcher Andrew Painter.

The Athletic also reported that the Phillies "refuse to even entertain the thought of moving" Painter, who they view as "perhaps their best pitching prospect since Cole Hamels." If they were willing to move Painter, The Athletic reported that Philadelphia would be much more in-play for Duran or A's closer Mason Miller.

Reds land 3B Ke'Bryan Hayes from Pirates

Cincinnati has traded for Pirates third baseman Ke'Bryan Hayes, per Passan. Hayes, considered one of the best defensive third basemen in the league, is under club control for five years beyond the 2025 season. The Dodgers have spoken to the Guardians about former Cy Young winner Shane Bieber. Morosi also reported that LA has been engaged with the Twins on relievers Jhoan Durán, Louis Varland and Griffin Jax.

Angels, Nationals strike dealing involving Luis Garcia, Andrew Chafin

The Angels are acquiring reliever Luis Garcia from Washington, per Passan. Additionally, Ken Rosenthal reports that Los Angeles is getting LHP Andrew Chafin from the Nationals in the deal.

Rosenthal also added that LHP Jake Eder and 1B Sam Brown are heading to the Nationals in the trade.

Between the Nationals and Dodgers this year, Garcia has a 4.10 ERA in 37.1 innings. Chafin, also a reliever, has thrown 20.0 innings for Washington in 2025 while totaling a 2.70 ERA.

Guardians 'trying to move' Steven Kwan, Shane Bieber

Cleveland's interest in actually moving on from its key trade pieces has been up in the air, but Feinsand reports that the team is "trying to move" both Steven Kwan and Shane Bieber.

Kwan is likely to draw a significant return due to his All-Star status and club control, while Bieber is nearing a return from Tommy John surgery but was one of the league's best starters when healthy.

Astros-Twins talks on Carlos Correa still 'far apart'

As buzz grows around Carlos Correa and a potential return to the Astros, Passan reports that while Minnesota and Houston have talked about a trade, no deal is close at this time. He wrote that the two sides are still "far apart."

Braves acquire RHP Tyler Kinley from Colorado

Atlanta is trading for right-handed pitcher Tyler Kinley from the Rockies in exchange for a prospect.

Kinley, a reliever who has been with the Rockies since 2020, has a 5.66 ERA in 47.2 innings this season. In return, Colorado is getting RHP prospect Austin Smith, per Thomas Harding.

Eugenio Suarez market starting to 'shape up,' primary interested teams listed

Feinsand reports that the market for the Diamondbacks' slugging third baseman is beginning to "shape up," citing the Mariners, Cubs, Tigers and Phillies as the primary teams in the race to acquire Suarez.

Carlos Correa not in Twins' lineup with ongoing trade rumors

With ongoing rumors regarding a potential reunion with Houston, Carlos Correa is not in the Twins' lineup today. Nightengale also noted that Correa left Tuesday's game "feeling light-headed," which could also play a role in his absence from the lineup.

White Sox RHP Adrian Houser scratched from start, no trade yet

Adrian Houser was set to start for the White Sox on Wednesday night against Philadelphia, but the team announced that Tyler Alexander would start instead. Heyman reports that no Houser trade is done yet, but Chicago is "holding him out in anticipation of a deal" by the deadline.

There were rumors around Houser being a part of the Slater-Yankees trade, but that deal has already been made official with the one-for-one swap.

Houser has made 11 starts this season, registering a 2.10 ERA across 68.2 innings.

Yankees acquire OF Austin Slater from White Sox

The Yankees are adding another bat, acquiring veteran outfielder Austin Slater from the White Sox.

Slater has hit .236 with five home runs and 11 RBIs in 51 games this season. Per Jon Heyman, the Yankees are sending back RHP prospect Gage Ziehl in exchange for Slater.

Dodgers considered potential landing spot for All-Star OF Steven Kwan

The Dodgers are considered "in" on Guardians outfielder Steven Kwan, with Heyman noting that Los Angeles could offer top catching prospect Dalton Rushing, who is currently blocked by All-Star Will Smith on the team.

Carlos Correa possible reunion with Astros "very real"

Correa's name was mentioned in rumors with the Astros, and McTaggart confirms that they are real. The Astros beat reporter adds that the presumption is that Correa would play third with Isaac Paredes out.

Olney and Passan predict Rays, Diamondbacks, Padres and Orioles will be the most active

Olney and Passan released a Q&A with one full day left before the trade deadline. Olney thinks that the Rays and Diamondbacks are going to be the most prominent sellers at the deadline. He added that the Padres will do "something" to improve their offense.

Passan adds that he thinks the Orioles will continue moving pieces, whether it be Mullins, Laureano or others. He agrees that the Dbacks will be busy. Passan also believes that the Marlins, Twins, Pirates and Guardians will be selling at the deadline. Both analysts predict that there will be a flurry of moves with just over 24 hours left before the deadline.

Mets targeting Luis Robert Jr., Cedric Mullins

We knew that the Mets were already in on Robert Jr. thanks to Feinsand's report below. New York is also looking into Cedric Mullins from the Orioles, per Heyman. The Mets aren't as in on the surging Ramon Laureano, but if he is moved, Heyman thinks that the Padres, Phillies, Giants or Reds would be where he ends up if he is traded.

Luisangel Acuna included in possible trade package for Luis Robert Jr.

Feinsand reports that the Mets are one of the biggest suitors for the White Sox's Luis Robert. Even if the Chicago outfielder has struggled at the plate, he is still a plus-defender, and the White Sox still maintain a high price for him. Feinsand includes that Luisangel Acuna is among the names discussed on the New York side of the deal.

If Padres move Cease or Suarez, they want MLB players and not prospects

San Diego has a surplus in the pitching department. Dylan Cease and Robert Suarez are the most common trade candidates. Morosi reports that if the Padres end up moving either one, they want a MLB-level catcher or left fielder instead of prospects.

Jhoan Duran not traded...yet

Twins fans were worried when reliever Jhoan Duran was seen in the bullpen hugging his catcher. They thought he had been informed he had been traded, as Minnesota has started unloading players ahead of the deadline. Luckily, for now, Passan stated that Duran and his bullpen catcher were just hugging "because that's what friends do sometimes."

Blue Jays acquire RHP Seranthony Dominguez from Orioles

The Athletic's Mitch Bannon reports that Toronto is trading for reliever Seranthony Dominguez from Baltimore, sending back pitching prospect Juaron Watts-Brown.

Dominguez has a 3.24 ERA and 54 strikeouts across 41.2 innings this season.

Dylan Cease a 'prime target' of Astros

Padres SP Dylan Cease is a "prime target" of the Astros, according to The Athletic, with Houston desperate for starting pitching after being hit hard by injuries. Framber Valdez and Hunter Brown have both been excellent this season, but the rest of the Astros' rotation has been a revolving door. With the Padres willing to listen on Cease, Houston will be a team to watch leading up to Thursday's deadline.

Sandy Alcantara market 'picking up drastically'

It's been unclear whether the Marlins would move on from their former Cy Young award winner, Sandy Alcantara, who has struggled this season. But Jim Bowden of CBS Sports and The Athletic reported Tuesday that the market for Alcantara is "picking up drastically," with a "real chance" the pitcher is moved before the deadline.

Padres, Phillies, Mets among suitors for Luis Robert Jr.

The White Sox have long been rumored to have interest in selling on outfielder Luis Robert Jr., and on Tuesday, Ken Rosenthal wrote that San Diego, Philadelphia and New York are the "prospective suitors" for Robert.

He added that teams are also virtually calling the White Sox's bluff in attempting to not giving up high-end prospects in a potential deal.

Blue Jays have talked to Pirates about bullpen additions

Pittsburgh's David Bednar and Dennis Santana have been frequently mentioned as top bullpen trade candidates, and MLB Network's Jon Morosi reported Tuesday that the Blue Jays "have discussed trade possibilities that would involve a reliever going to Toronto" with the Pirates.

Toronto sits atop the AL East with a 63-44 record.

Nolan Arenado has come up in Astros-Cardinals trade talks

Star third baseman Nolan Arenado, who was highly expected to be traded in the offseason but remained in St. Louis, has come up in talks between the Cardinals and Astros, MLB Network's Jon Morosi reported.

However, there "no momentum" toward a deal yet. Arenado is hitting .235 with 10 home runs this season.

Padres won't be 'pure sellers,' but could sell to help current team

The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal said Tuesday that San Diego, which sits at 58-49 and trails the Dodgers in the NL West by four games, will only sell "if it enabled them to get other pieces" that would help them in their 2025 playoff push.

"They're not pure sellers," Rosenthal said, mentioning Dylan Cease as a potential trade candidate if they do choose to re-tool by selling.

Emmanuel Clase situation 'ended any chance' of Guardians buying at deadline

The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal reports that with Guardians closer Emmanuel Clase being put on the restricted list due to a gambling investigation, that effectively "ended any chance" of Cleveland buying at the deadline.

Rosenthal added that the Guardians basically "know" they won't be a playoff team with the ongoing investigations into their relievers, but they would have considered buying before.

Rosenthal also added in a piece for The Athletic that Cleveland is drawing "a ton of interest" in All-Star outfielder Steven Kwan, with the Dodgers, Blue Jays, Phillies and Padres believed to be in the mix. However, the Guardians would "set a high bar" for a potential return due to Kwan's age, club control and track record as an All-Star.

Tigers bolstering pitching staff with Twins' Chris Paddack, Randy Dobnak

Detroit is trading C/1B prospect Enrique Jimenez for two Twins pitchers, Chris Paddack and Randy Dobnak.

As the Tigers compete for the AL's best record, Paddack (111.0 innings, 4.95 ERA) will be an innings-eater on the back end of their rotation, while Dobnak (5.1 innings, 1.69 ERA) will report to Triple-A as a depth option.

The Tigers' move for pitching comes as Reese Olson, who had a 3.15 ERA in 13 starts this season, went down with a right shoulder strain that could end his 2025 regular season.

Rays acquire new catcher to replace Jansen from Marlins

As the Rays send out Danny Jansen, they're also trading for a new catcher, sending out prospect Matthew Etzel for Marlins backstop Nick Fortes.

Augustin Ramirez had taken over as Miami's starting catcher, allowing them to flip Fortes, a stronger defender than hitter with a career .225 average.

Brewers trading for Rays catcher Danny Jansen

Milwaukee added some power to its lineup and catching depth, acquiring Danny Jansen from the Rays. In exchange, the Brewers are sending out infielder Jadher Areinamo.

Jansen has hit 11 home runs while batting .204 this season.

Braves acquire veteran RHP Carlos Carrasco from Yankees

Atlanta traded for Carlos Carrasco from the Yankees in exchange for cash considerations. The 38-year-old Carrasco, along with Erik Fedde, will help fill vacant roles in the Braves' rotation due to injuries.

Royals, Seth Lugo agree to contract extension that takes him off trade market

Kansas City starter Seth Lugo had been mentioned as a trade candidate despite the team hovering around .500, but on Sunday, the pitcher signed a new multi-year extension that will keep him with the team through 2027.

Lugo, who owns a 2.95 ERA in 113 innings in 2025, comes off the trade market to remain with the Royals for the long-term.

Braves add RHP Erick Fedde

The Cardinals traded right-hander Erick Fedde to Atlanta for a player to be named later or cash. Per ESPN, St. Louis will cover "the majority of what remains of Fedde's $7.5 million salary for 2025."

Fedde is an impending free agent who has struggled this season, owning a 5.22 ERA and 3-10 record. However, he did have a strong 2024 season between Chicago and St. Louis, and the Braves could use starting pitching right now with ongoing injuries to AJ Smith-Shawver, Spencer Schwellenbach, Chris Sale, and more.

Royals acquire OF Randal Grichuk from Diamondbacks

Kansas City traded for outfielder Randal Grichuk from Arizona in exchange for Triple-A RHP Andrew Hoffmann on Saturday.

Grichuk, a 12-year veteran, has hit .240 with seven home runs and 22 RBIs this season for the Diamondbacks.

Amed Rosario heading from Nationals to Yankees

After already acquiring Ryan McMahon, the Yankees got another infielder by trading for Washington's Amed Rosario. New York sent the Nationals prospects Clayton Beeter and Browm Martinez.

Rosario, a former top prospect with the Mets, is batting .270 with five home runs and a .736 OPS this season. Most of his damage has been done against left-handed pitchers, so the Yankees will likely deploy him in lineups against lefties more often.

Yankees acquire infielder Ryan McMahon from Rockies

The Yankees traded pitching prospects Griffin Herring and Josh Grosz in exchange for Rockies infielder Ryan McMahon on Friday.

McMahon, who is under contract for two more seasons, has hit 16 home runs this season and also provides New York with strong defense at third base. The left-handed hitter has totaled at least 20 homers in every season since 2021.

Mets trade for Orioles reliever Gregory Soto

New York made an addition to its bullpen by acquiring LHP Gregory Soto from Baltimore on Friday. In exchange, the Mets traded pitching prospects Wellington Aracena and Cameron Foster.

Soto, 30, is a former two-time All-Star who hasn't been quite as excellent in recent seasons, but he has totaled a 3.96 ERA with 44 strikeouts for the Orioles this season.

Diamondbacks send 1B Josh Naylor to Mariners

As Seattle competes for either the AL West crown or a wild card spot, it bolstered its lineup, trading for Diamondbacks first baseman Josh Naylor while sending out prospects Brandyn Garcia and Ashton Izzi.

Naylor has hit .292 this season with 11 home runs and 59 RBIs. He'll add to a Mariners offense that could use some more power behind slugging catcher Cal Raleigh.
