Manchester United set transfer deadline for Chelsea target

Chelsea’s shopping spree in the ongoing summer transfer window looks set to continue as a Premier League rival is eager to offload one of their leading transfer targets.

Manchester United are desperate to offload Alejandro Garnacho, who has been one of Chelsea’s transfer targets throughout the summer.

The Blues are currently in the middle of negotiating a deal for Xavi Simons from RB Leipzig, but once they complete that, they could turn their attention to Garnacho.

However, United would be keen to sell the winger as soon as possible, if it were up to them.

The Red Devils are looking to offload the winger as soon as possible so that they can reinvest those funds in other players.

Ruben Amorim’s team has reportedly set a deadline for Garnacho’s departure from the club and would like to see the player leave within that timeline.

According to Givemesport, United want Garnacho to choose his next club in the “coming days”.

The 21-year-old has been a subject of transfer interest from Chelsea and Aston Villa, and Amorim is looking to sell the player before the start of August.

Since United have made getting rid of Garnacho a priority, it gives Chelsea a golden opportunity to sign him.

However, there is no guarantee that the Blues will make a move for Garnacho, especially if they sign Simons.

Though Simons likes playing as a number 10, he can also play on the left wing, which is where Garnacho also operates.

Having already signed Jamie Gittens earlier this transfer window, Enzo Maresca might believe that he has enough players who can play on the left wing, especially if he ends up signing Simons.
