Liverpool secured their 20th Premier League title with a dominating 5-1 victory over Tottenham at Anfield, reclaiming the top spot alongside Manchester United. Tottenham initially took the lead through a Dominic Solanke header, but Liverpool quickly equalized with a goal from Luis Diaz, confirmed by VAR. Alexis Mac Allister and Cody Gakpo extended Liverpool's lead before halftime, and Mohamed Salah added another after the break. Destiny Udogie's own goal completed the scoring for Liverpool, who ended Manchester City's four-year dominance. The match was a celebration of Liverpool's impressive season under manager Arne Slot, solidifying their status as champions in front of a jubilant home crowd.
Liverpool's emphatic 5-1 win over Tottenham at Anfield secured their 20th Premier League title, placing them level with Manchester United in the all-time standings.
Despite an early setback with Dominic Solanke's goal for Tottenham, Liverpool responded promptly, equalizing through Luis Diaz after a VAR review confirmed the goal's validity.
Liverpool dominated the first half, with Alexis Mac Allister and Cody Gakpo scoring to put the team in a commanding position before the interval.
Mohamed Salah found the net in the second half, bringing his season tally to 28 goals, while an own goal by Destiny Udogie further extended Liverpool's lead.
The victory marked the end of Manchester City's four-year reign as champions and highlighted Liverpool's remarkable campaign under the management of Arne Slot.
Tottenham struggled defensively throughout the match, with their focus partly on an upcoming UEFA Europa League semifinal, which affected their performance and morale.
The Anfield crowd celebrated Liverpool's triumph with enthusiasm, as the team delivered a performance befitting their status as the best in the league for the 2024/25 season.
Liverpool romped to their 20th Premier League title, sealing glory with a processional 5-1 win over Tottenham at a buoyant Anfield.
Arne Slot's men were given a rapturous reception on a sun-drenched Merseyside afternoon, knowing they only needed a point to complete their imperious march to glory.
Dominic Solanke headed home from James Maddison's 12th-minute corner to give Spurs the lead and briefly silence the masses, but Luis Diaz slid in Dominik Szoboszlai's cross for an equaliser that was given by VAR after an offside call on the field.
Alexis Mac Allister rifled in a fabulous second after Ryan Gravenberch snaffled possession from Archie Gray on the edge of the Spurs box. By the time Cody Gakpo capitalised on some poor set-piece defending 11 minutes before the interval, the party was in full swing.

Ange Postecoglou made two changes at halftime and a couple more midway through the second half. Understandably, his team have one eye on Thursday's UEFA Europa League semifinal against Bodo/Glimt, but such a forlornly absorbed shellacking can't do much for morale.
Mohamed Salah was on a mission to score his 28th Premier League goal of the campaign and duly did so before a jubilant Kop, with a Destiny Udogie own-goal completing the rout.
Liverpool's success ends Manchester City's four-year reign as champions and moves the Reds level with Manchester United at the top of the all-time list.

Liverpool vs.
Tottenham live updates, highlights, and commentaryFulltime: LIVERPOOL ARE THE PREMIER LEAGUE CHAMPIONS!
That's it. A wonderful coronation for Arne Slot's superb champions. Spurs every bit as obliging as you'd have expected, if we're being honest. It's going to be a long, joyous night in Anfield as the strains of Dua Lipa get the party started. Thanks for joining us.
90+3 mins: Haha, Richarlison has got himself booked for taking exception to Elliott's showboating. Classic antics.
90+2 mins: Liverpool still going and win a corner. Postecoglou shakes hands with Slot during the break in play. A nice touch.
90 mins: Four added minutes.
89 mins: Oh, Darwin. The Liverpool striker streams forward. He can score a title-sealing goal but instead elects to pass to Salah and overhits it.
85 mins: Salah is still trying to score, which almost feels like poor form at this point, but he's having a ball. Udogie flings himself into the breach to block.
76 mins: More Liverpool ovations and Elliott and Endo replace Diaz and Alexander-Arnild. There are a load of red balloons on the field. Andy Robinson seems quite grumpy about it.
69 mins: GOOOOOAAAAALLLLLL!!!!! Destiny Udogie (OG)!!!!
Salah wants to claim this one but Udogie got there first to put Alexander-Arnold's cross through his own net.
68 mins: Jones and Jota on for Liverpool as Szoboszlai and Gakpo depart to warm ovations. Odobert and Richarlison replace Tel and Solanke.
67 mins; Van Dijk shoots right-footed from 35 yards. These are the vibes.
66 mins: Liverpool cutting through Spurs at will. Vicario beats away a Szoboszlai shot. This could be any score.
63 mins: GOOOOOOAAAAAAALLLLLLLLL!!!!!! Mohamed Salah!!!!!!
There it is. Textbook Salah, rampaging, cutting inside and smashing into the near bottom corner.
61 mins: Gravenberch takes aim from 25 yards now, Vicario sees it all the way. This is just basically lads kicking balls at the goals in the sunshine now. Lovely afternoon.
60 mins; A Spurs foray forward and Danso scuffs a one wide from distance.
58 mins: Alexander-Arnold's shot is charged down, Liverpool want handball. Then Salah goes down. He wants a penalty too. Spence did give him a little nudge but the referee isn't interested.
57 mins: Salah on the charge, cutting inside. He wants his goal today. The shot is deflected behind.
55 mins: Vicario gives he ball straight to Gravenberch, Salah and Szoboszlai can't capitalise. Tottenham are so defensively lax it seems to have robbed Liverpool of all attacking intensity. I'm not sure this is the Postecoglou masterplan, but here we are.
51 mins: Liverpool players queuing up. Gakpo decides to square to Salah but the pass is loose.
2nd Half: Kickoff
We're back. Sarr and Kulusevski on for Gray and Maddison at the break for Spurs. Liverpool attacking the Kop end.
Halftime
Liverpool are 45 minutes away from the title. Even if this Tottenham pull a couple of goals back you'd bank on them conceding several more. Slot's men have been bang up for it as you'd imagine and Mac Allister's goal was fabulous. But Spurs have been as obliging as you'd expect in their current state.
45 mins: Tel marauds down the left but the cross is straight into Alisson's gloves. Four additional minutes to enjoy.
42 mins: Just a bit of drift into the game and Tel has a chance at the far post after Porro gets down the Liverpool left. It's an excellent last-ditch challenge from Konate and they've both taken a bit of a whack.
34 mins: GOOOOOAAAAAAALLLLLLLL!!!!! Cody Gakpo!!!!!
Here's a Dutchman you've heard of. Spurs defend with risible limpness, Gakpo shuffles the ball out of his feet and sticks a finish across Vicario.

33 mins: Mac Allister can't get the ball to stay in the quadrant or this corner. Uri Geller up to his old tricks. Contemporary reference for you there.
31 mins: Liverpool free-kick in a shooting position. Alexander-Arnold manages to persuade Mac Allister and Szoboszlai to lash it halfway up the Anfield Road End. He might have to wait a while for his next go.
28 mins: Maddison whips in a free-kick from the left. Solanke gets up to glance and loop one that Alisson has to tip over. Konate gets himself on the end of this Maddison corner.
24 mins: GOOOOOOAAAAAALLLLL!!!!! Alexis Mac Allister!!!!!!
WOOF! Spurs can't get out, but they keep trying it. Liverpool are all over them like a rash. Gravenberch ransacks Gray on the edge of the area and Mac Allister larrups one into the top corner. Unstoppable.

20 mins: Ball in the Spurs net again and but Salah was off this time. Even so, it's dicey stuff from Spurs, who have midfielders bursting through their line. Gakpo the man denied by the referee's assistant.
18 mins: GOOOOOOAAAAAALLLLL!!!!! Luis Diaz!!!!!!!
Yep, nothing wrong with that. Diaz held his run perfectly and has a close-range goal to mark his 100th Premier League appearance following one work from Salah and Szoboszlai. More importantly, he's turned the Anfield volume back on.

12 mins: GOOOOOOAAAAALLLLLL!!!!! Dominic Solanke!!!!!
Oh me, oh my! That wasn't on the agenda. Solanke rises above a napping Konate and Gravenberch and powers home a right-wing corner.

10 mins: Liverpool corner after Vicario can't keep Gakpo's attempt in play. From the set piece, the Dutchman sets himself up for an audacious overhead kick. That wasn't far away.
7 mins: There's going to be room against Spurs and, after Tel loses the ball in the Liverpool box, the hosts spring forward. Salah arrows a ball into the box form the left but he and Diaz have their wires crosses and the Colombian makes the wrong run.
3 mins: Danso coughs up a free-kick about 30 yards out. Liverpool work it short and out to Salah, who is allowed to cut inside and fire a sighter over.
Kickoff: 1st Half
Off we go then
2 mins before kickoff: We're into You'll Never Walk Alone now, which is booming with particular gusto. The Tottenham players must feel like some sort of weird accessory out there. We're about to get underway.
5 mins before kickoff: The players are in the tunnel and Anfield is packed. And LOUD!
30 mins before kickoff: Arne Slot has been speaking to Sky Sports and the Liverpool boss is taking nothing for granted today as you'd expect.
What is required is they have to work really hard. Tottenham is a team that runs a lot. If you're not intense and not ready for them they can hurt you a lot. Fans can play a big part in this. The louder they are the more energy the players will have.

50 mins before kickoff; Liverpool arrived at Anfield a short while ago. They're going to be playing in front of some atmosphere this afternoon if this welcome is anything to go by.

1 hr 30 mins before kickoff: Anfield is in party mode, justifiably expecting the point Liverpool need to be the champions of England for a 20th time. Back on the perch with Manchester United if Sir Alex Ferguson will allow two teams on there at once. Arne Slot will follow Jose Mourinho, Carlo Ancelotti, Manuel Pellegrini and Antonio Conte into the record books as a manager to win the Premier League in his first season in England. The lack of any true title race has led to some derisory commentary around Liverpool and 2024/25 as a whole, but make no mistake, they're a fine side.
