On Day 3 of the 2025 NFL Draft, the Detroit Lions sought to further enhance their roster by selecting key players to fill vital positions. After addressing the defensive line and offensive guard positions in the earlier rounds with picks like Tyleik Williams and Tate Ratledge, the Lions focused on acquiring offensive lineman Miles Frazier from LSU and edge rusher Ahmed Hassanein from Boise State. Frazier, known for his versatility and durability, started over 50 games in college without allowing a sack in 2024, making him a potential future starter. Hassanein, a productive edge rusher, recorded impressive sack numbers in his college career, offering the Lions a promising rotational piece on their defensive line. The Lions' strategic trade-ups in the draft, especially for wide receiver Isaac TeSlaa in the third round, highlight their aggressive approach to building a competitive team under the management of Brad Holmes.

The Detroit Lions made strategic selections in the 2025 NFL Draft to address specific needs, beginning with defensive tackle Tyleik Williams from Ohio State and guard Tate Ratledge from Georgia in the first two rounds.

In a notable move, the Lions traded two future third-round picks to acquire Arkansas wide receiver Isaac TeSlaa, adding depth to their wide receiver room.

On Day 3, the Lions traded up to select offensive lineman Miles Frazier from LSU, who has extensive college experience and a clean record of allowing zero sacks in 2024.

Another significant pick was edge rusher Ahmed Hassanein from Boise State, known for his productivity with 12.5 sacks in 2023 and 9.5 sacks in 2024, providing potential as a valuable rotational player.

The Lions' draft strategy was characterized by multiple trade-ups, demonstrating their commitment to aggressively building a robust and competitive roster.

Brad Holmes, the Lions' general manager, executed these moves to address both immediate team needs and future potential, particularly focusing on strengthening the offensive and defensive lines.

Despite criticism for the third-round trade for TeSlaa, the Lions' overall draft approach reflects a calculated effort to enhance team capabilities in preparation for the upcoming NFL seasons.

Day 3 of the 2025 NFL Draft is here, and the Detroit Lions will have another chance to add more talent to the roster. Detroit addressed the trenches with their first two picks, selecting Ohio State defensive tackle Tyleik Williams with the No.28 overall pick in Round 1 and Georgia guard Tate Ratledge with the No.57 overall in Round 2 through a trade-up with the Denver Broncos.

The Lions traded up again on Day 2 for Arkansas wide receiver Isaac TeSlaa, who will be an intriguing addition to the wide receiver room. General manager Brad Holmes traded two third-round picks in 2026 to move up for TeSlaa.
