Knicks linked to former fan favorite for assistant coaching role
A familiar face could soon be joining the New York Knicks’ coaching staff.
Per SNY’s Ian Begley, the Knicks have requested, and received permission to talk to Minnesota Timberwolves assistant coach Pablo Prigioni about joining Mike Brown’s staff. Prigioni is “highly regarded in coaching circles” according to Begley.
Prigioni has been an assistant for the Timberwolves since 2019, and was previously an assistant for the Brooklyn Nets in the 2018-19 season, and the head coach of Baskonia — a EuroLeague team — in 2017.
Prior to his coaching days, Prigioni played for the Knicks from 2012-2015. He averaged 3.9 points and 3.0 assists per game in 187 games with the Knicks (48 starts).
Brown has been looking to fill out the rest of his staff since becoming the new head coach of the Knicks. Perhaps bringing in a familiar face who is well respected in the coaching realm could bring a positive impact in Brown’s first season.
