Juan Soto showcased his power by hitting his first two home runs at Citi Field as a member of the Mets, although the Arizona Diamondbacks emerged victorious with a 4-2 win. This defeat marked a rare home series loss for the Mets, who had previously succeeded in winning 10 consecutive home series. Zac Gallen played a pivotal role for the Diamondbacks by allowing just two hits over six innings, holding Mets runners effectively until Soto's sixth-inning homer. Despite Soto's efforts, Geraldo Perdomo and Tim Tawa delivered home runs for the Diamondbacks, who also saw valuable contributions from Alek Thomas and Eugenio Suárez. The Mets' Kodai Senga managed to limit the Diamondbacks to one run over four innings, but the bullpen couldn't maintain the lead, and Shelby Miller secured the win with a flawless ninth inning for Arizona.

Juan Soto hit two home runs in the game, his first as a member of the Mets at Citi Field, yet the team lost 4-2 to the Diamondbacks, breaking a streak of 10 consecutive home series wins.

Zac Gallen was instrumental for the Diamondbacks, conceding only two hits across six innings and preventing any Mets player from advancing beyond first base until Soto's home run in the sixth inning.

Soto, who signed a 15-year deal worth $765 million last December, had a batting average of .241 in his first 15 home games with the Mets, and he previously hit 12 home runs as a visiting player at Citi Field.

The Diamondbacks capitalized on home runs by Geraldo Perdomo and Tim Tawa, with additional RBIs from Alek Thomas and Eugenio Suárez, to clinch the series victory.

Despite a strong start from Mets' pitcher Kodai Senga, who gave up just one run over four innings, the bullpen was unable to hold the lead, and the Diamondbacks maintained their advantage with effective pitching.

Kevin Ginkel navigated a challenging eighth inning, striking out two Mets players to preserve a 3-2 lead, and Shelby Miller completed a perfect ninth inning to earn the save for Arizona.

The loss marked the first time since July that the Mets dropped back-to-back games at Citi Field, reflecting the competitive edge of the Diamondbacks in this series.
