Dive Deeper:
Bill Belichick, who had a successful career in the NFL with eight Super Bowl titles, is now transitioning to a role in college football with UNC, but his focus has been diverted by personal circumstances.
Jordon Hudson, a 24-year-old, has gained significant influence over Belichick, raising eyebrows due to her control over his decisions, as revealed by an anonymous source.
Their unusual partnership caught public attention following a viral CBS interview, highlighting the disparity in their dynamic and sparking criticism of their management style.
Despite concerns about the power imbalance and the age difference, their relationship is described as having a certain charm, and they appear to function well together.
As UNC's football season nears, with their opener against TCU scheduled for September 1, the unfolding situation between Belichick and Hudson continues to generate interest and speculation.
May has been underway for nearly a week.
In the world of Bill Belichick and Jordon Hudson, things appear to be anything but normal since their now-infamous "CBS Sunday Morning" interview went viral alongside a bizarre aftermath that gave a small glimpse into how the 72-year-old Belichick may potentially be getting taken advantage of by the 24-year-old.
The North Carolina football coach enjoyed a stellar NFL run, winning eight Super Bowl titles (six as a head coach). Entering the next chapter of his career, which sees him trade in his Sundays for fall Saturdays and transitioning from the AFC East to the ACC, football has yet to be the main focus for Belichick in recent weeks.
A report from "Page Six" recently uncovered Hudson's attitude toward Belichick's career. It's anything but pretty, especially from a business standpoint.
According to an anonymous inside source in the report, Hudson has Belichick right where she wants him: the final decisions go through her. While he has input, none seems to matter in the long run.
"It’s amateur hour and it’s showing,” they said. "They don’t know what they are doing and trying to control everything. They don’t trust anyone else. He’s handed off the ball to her.”
Belichick doesn't seem to care either. He admitted in the CBS interview that while his social media accounts are active, he doesn't run them himself.
Even stranger, Hudson's control is so strong that the same source revealed that "she knows everything," but Belichick's demands are ultimately met no matter how abnormal the age gap may seem.
Nevertheless, the relationship appears strong enough to the point where a possible split seems unlikely.
"They are individually a little odd, but together they strangely make sense. It’s not icky when they are together. There is a charm to their relationship," the "Page Six" source added.
Three months separate Belichick from roaming the sidelines in Chapel Hill. By then, who knows what layers are going to be added to an otherwise head-scratching ordeal.
North Carolina opens its season Monday, Sept. 1, against TCU at 7:30 p.m. ET on ESPN.
