Jeff Sperbeck had managed Elway since 1990 and had represented numerous NFL players, including Hall of Famers Ronnie Lott and Jim Plunkett. He was a well-respected figure in the sports agent community.

In 2015, Elway and Sperbeck co-founded 7Cellars, a company producing premium wines, showcasing their strong business partnership and personal friendship.
