Jake Paul vs. Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. results, highlights: Paul continues to impress, beats former world champion

Jake Paul wants to fight for gold. He believes he has a legitimate path to being a contender with a win against Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. on June 28. The fight in California airs on DAZN

The fight is the first for Paul (11-1) since facing Mike Tyson in November. "The Problem Child" has caused a stir in the boxing world due to his personality, among other things. If he wins, Paul will be ranked at the cruiserweight level.

Chavez (54-6-1) is a former middleweight champion in 2011. The 39-year-old last fought in July, his first fight in three years. He recently participated in a residential treatment program after being arrested on felony gun possession charges. The son of a legend is now focused on reviving his career. 

The co-main event will see Gilberto Ramirez defend the WBA and WBO cruiserweight titles against Yuniel Dorticos. 

Ramirez (47-1) dominated the super middleweight division for years. "Zurdo" lost against Dmitry Bivol for light heavyweight gold. He has since moved to cruiserweight and won the WBA and WBO belts.

Dorticos (27-2) is a former WBA and IBF cruiserweight champion. The Cuban is on a three-fight win streak but has fought once since 2022.

Also on the card, highly touted Floyd Schofield (18-0) faces former champion Tevin Farmer (33-8-1). Meanwhile, former boxing and UFC champion Holly Holm (33-2-3 boxing | 15-7, 1 NC MMA) returns to the ring for the first time since 2013 to face Yolanda Vega (10-0).

Round twelve: Dorticos with a few jabs around the ring. Ramirez landed a few of his own. Body shot from Dorticos. Ramirez with shots on the inside. He landed combinations. Multi-punch combinations by Ramirez to counter Dorticos' shots. Big hooks by Ramirez. Ramirez won via unanimous decision.

Raul Curiel uses power to take out Victor Rodriguez

Round four: Curiel landed combinations early. He gave the judges a reason to favor him with the more efficient shots. Rodriguez went down to the canvas and his nose looks broken. Curiel saw Rodriguez's swell and jumped. Rodriguez couldn't defend himself and the referee called the fight off. 

Round three: Both exchanged shots to open the round. Rodriguez with massive shots to the body and face of Curiel. Curiel with hooks. Rodriguez with body shots on the inside. Curiel landed some vicious shots of his own.

Round two: Rodriguez with uppercuts. He was loading up, which can be dangerous. He landed a shot that went through Curiel's defense. Body shots by both connected. Curiel with uppercuts and combinations. Both exchanged shots. Curiel moved back while landing hooks.

Round ten: Both fighters tried to attack the inside. Griffin with a few jabs and an uppercut. Combinations from both, with Rodriguez getting the better of the exchanges. A right hurt Griffin, and he went down with about ten seconds left in the right. It's all over! Wow! 

Round nine: Big shot by Rodriguez that had Griffin by the ropes. Rodriguez continued to push Griffin back. Griffin looked a little out of sorts.

Round eight: Griffin seemed to have found some energy. Rodriguez got dropped to the floor thanks to chopping right hands. Hooks by Griffin followed by a left that connected. Rodriguez stormed back, but Griffin landed several big uppercuts.

Round seven: Griffin tried to press forward, but Rodriguez was the more consistent fighter. Left hook by Griffin. Griffin with a few right hands. Overhand hook from Rodriguez.

Round six: Rodriguez pressed forward, forcing Griffin to adjust on the fly. Massive left hooks by Rodriguez. Rodriguez's timing has been fantastic. Overhand left connected to the face of Griffin.

Round five: Griffin started to act more aggressive in round five. Rodriguez with some body work and a nice left on the inside. He landed a big left hook and some combinations.

Round four: Rodriguez landed several big shots to open the round. A counter jab by Rodriguez, while Griffin tried landing flurries. Big right by Griffin. Another right from Griffin that buckled the legs of Rodriguez.

Round three: Rodriguez with a jab. Griffin jumped in and landed combinations. Left hand by Rodriguez that caught Griffin. It might have hurt him. Griffin didn't recover for the rest of the round.

Round two: Griffin stepped forward to start the round. He looked a little more confident. Rodriguez with a few right hands that connected. He forced Griffin back and made him miss shots. Griffin was backed up against the ropes and was forced to play defense.

Round one: Both landed shots on the inside. Griffin with a few jabs to the body. Griffin with some inside body shots. Not much action between the two in the first round.

Floyd Schofield takes out Tevin Farmer in dominant fashion

Round one: Farmer pressed forward to start things off. Schofield with a few hands. A right dropped Farmer! And he goes down again! Schofield made himself a contender with a few more shots, as the referee saw enough. Wow! 

Holly Holm impresses in return to boxing against Yolanda Vega

Round ten: Holm has not missed with any lefts. Holm has blood on her nose, but it has not affected her performance. She landed hooks and a series of lefts. Vega finished the round strong, but Holm looked like she could go a few more. Holm won via unanimous decision.

Round nine: Vega landed a flurry of shots. Holm was backing up a little. Likely was her best round of the fight.

Round five: Holm had tremendous footwork. Both worked the body. Vega was more aggressive in this round. Pressing forward, Holm continued to land impressive shots.

10:57 p.m. ET: OK, now the co-main event is beginning. Looks like Paul-Chavez is starting late. 

10:41 p.m. ET: The co-main event is up next: Gilberto Ramirez defends the WBA and WBO cruiserweight titles against Yuniel Dorticos. Could Jake Paul face the winner?

10:28 p.m. ET: Curiel used vicious power shots to put Rodriguez down to the canvas. After a few more flurries, the referee saw enough.

9:50 p.m. ET: Logan Paul told the broadcast team he didn't get book for WWE Night of Champions in Saudi Arabia. He said his brother is locked in for the fight. 

9:25 p.m. ET: Julian Rodriguez looked like he was going to win via decision, but he took matters into his own hands. Rodriguez knocked Avious Griffin down in the tenth round, and with less than ten seconds left, the referee called the fight off. 

8:40 p.m. ET: Avious Griffin vs. Julian Rodriguez is next. 

8:26 p.m. ET: Schofield only needed one round to take out Farmer. Wow! Schofield could potentially face the winner of Stevenson-William Zepeda. 

8:15 p.m. ET: A fight that is expected to excite opens the main card: Floyd Schofield vs. Tevin Farmer. Schofield was supposed to fight Shakur Stevenson, but backed out due to illness. He faces a former champion in Farmer.

8 p.m. ET: The main card has started.

7:44 p.m. ET: Holm got win number 33 in the boxing ring with a shutout performance against Vega. 

7:07 p.m. ET: Former UFC champion and boxing Hall of Famer Holly Holm makes her return to the ring against Yolanda Romero. A lot has changed since Holm last entered the squared circle. 

6:58 p.m. ET: Joel Iriarte remained undefeated after going the distance against Yusuph Metu (78-74, 80-72, 79-74).

6:15 p.m. ET: Joel Iriarte vs. Yusuph Metu is next.
