The First Academy secured their spot in the semifinals by defeating Lake Highland Prep 17-1, showcasing impressive performances from senior Eva Rivera and eighth-grader Ava Brack, who hit a home run and drove in four runs.

Montverde's roster includes standout junior shortstop Luna Taboas, leading the team in batting average (.663), on-base percentage (.667), and stolen bases (32), making her a key offensive threat.

Junior outfielder Addison Poe is a power hitter with a team-leading eight home runs and eight doubles, while senior catcher Danika Spinogatti contributes significantly with the highest RBIs (35) and slugging percentage (.889).

Junior pitcher Nevaeh Williams anchors Montverde's pitching staff with a record of 13-2 and an impressive 0.97 ERA, having struck out 139 batters across nearly 80 innings, contributing to the team's overall 1.67 ERA.

Montverde's two losses this season were against other nationally ranked teams, Doral Academy and Orange Beach, but they have bounced back with seven consecutive wins heading into the district tournament.

The semifinal match will be streamed live on the NFHS Network, with the championship game scheduled for Thursday, allowing fans to follow the action as Montverde seeks another title.

One of the nation’s top softball programs will start its postseason run at home Tuesday afternoon.

Montverde Academy, which is 23-2 on the season and ranked in the latest edition of The Sporting News Top 25 high school softball poll, is at home to take on The First Academy of Orlando in the semifinals of the 2A District 7 tournament being played at Montverde. The game is set for 4 p.m. ET.

Montverde, the top seed in the tournament and last season’s Florida 3A state champs, drew an opening-round bye and moved into Tuesday’s semifinal round. The First Academy (10-12), the No. 4 seed, won its opening-round game, defeating Lake Highland Prep, 17-1.

On the Montverde Academy squad, junior shortstop Luna Taboas leads the team in hitting (.663), on-base percentage (.667) and stolen bases (32). Junior outfielder Addison Poe leads the team in home runs (8) and doubles (8), while senior catcher Danika Spinogatti is the Eagles’ leader in RBIs (35) and slugging percentage (.889), as well as second in batting (.486) and on-base percentage (.591).

Junior pitcher Nevaeh Williams leads a pitching staff that has a combined team earned run average of 1.67. Williams is 13-2 with an 0.97 ERA, while striking out 139 batters in nearly 80 innings.

Montverde’s only two defeats came to other nationally ranked opponents, Florida school Doral Academy and Alabama power Orange Beach, the latter a 3-2 decision in eight innings. Since then, the Eagles have reeled off seven straight wins entering districts.

In The First Academy’s opening-round district win, senior Eva Rivera and Isabella Brown each had three-hit games, while eighth-grader Ava Brack homered and drove in four runs. Brown leads the Royals in batting (.483) and on-base percentage (.524).

The other 2A District 7 semifinal is set for 7 p.m. ET on Tuesday and will pit No. 2 seed Cornerstone Christian Academy against No. 3 Windermere Prep. Tuesday’s winners will face off for the district championship, set for 4 p.m. ET on Thursday.
