The Denver Broncos have made significant additions to their roster following the 2025 NFL Draft, introducing seven new players, which has led to mixed reactions from their fanbase. These new draft picks, particularly first-rounder Jahdae Barron and second-rounder R.J. Harvey, are expected to impact the roles of existing players such as Ja'Quan McMillian and Jaleel McLaughlin. McLaughlin faces competition from Harvey, who brings more explosiveness to the running back position, while McMillian's secondary role is threatened by Barron's immediate defensive contributions. The team's defensive lineman John Franklin-Myers may find his future with the Broncos uncertain due to salary cap considerations and the emergence of new talent like Sai'vion Jones. Additionally, punter Matt Haack will compete with sixth-round pick Jeremy Crenshaw for a spot on the team, highlighting the competitive atmosphere as the Broncos refine their roster for the upcoming season.

The Denver Broncos selected seven new players in the 2025 NFL Draft, which has received mixed reviews from fans, and these selections are expected to impact current team members significantly.

Jaleel McLaughlin, a running back, faces competition from the second-round pick R.J. Harvey, who shares similar traits but is considered more explosive, potentially reducing McLaughlin's role in the team.

Ja'Quan McMillian, an undrafted success story at cornerback, will see his role challenged by first-round pick Jahdae Barron, who is expected to make an immediate impact in the Broncos' defense.

John Franklin-Myers, a defensive lineman, might struggle to secure a contract extension due to salary cap constraints and the team's strategic selection of LSU's Sai'vion Jones in the third round.

Veteran punter Matt Haack, who was signed as a free agent, will need to compete with newly drafted Jeremy Crenshaw from Florida, as the team evaluates its long-term options at the position.

The Denver Broncos have added seven new players to their roster and though the team's choices in the 2025 NFL Draft have been met with mixed reviews from the fanbase, some players on the team could be greatly impacted by the moves the team made.

This is the case with any draft as rookies are chosen with the thought of them having an impact quickly on the team. Looking at the current Broncos roster, some of these picks will impact players already on the roster.

Quite a bit of things must materialize this summer in training camp and preseason games before anything becomes official, but these four players will need to perform well to hold off the newcomers from cutting into their snap counts or taking their jobs entirely.

Jaleel McLaughlin, Running Back

The Broncos used their second-round pick on running back R.J. Harvey. Whether or not he's a three-down back remains to be seen, but what he is is a very similar version of Jaleel McLaughlin, just with more explosiveness. Harvey could easily supplant McLaughlin in the lineup.

There will still be a place for Audric Estime as the team's power back, but McLaughlin could be relegated to a reduced role if Harvey is as good as some think he can be.

Ja'Quan McMillian, Cornerback

I discussed this at length here, but the first-round selection of Jahdae Barron is definitely going to cut into the role Ja'Quan McMillian had carved out in the secondary.

McMillian has been a great find for the Broncos, especially as an undrafted player, but Barron is going to be a big part of the defense right out of the gate as a rookie.

John Franklin-Myers, Defensive Lineman

It's no fault of John Franklin-Myers but the business side of the NFL can make things difficult. As good as Franklin-Myers played last season, he will be a free agent following the season but the team has to consider that Nik Bonitto, Zach Allen and Courtland Sutton are all going to be looking for new deals as well.

There's a good possibility that the team won't be able to afford Franklin-Myers, which was likely a part of the motivation in trading back into the third round to select LSU's Sai'vion Jones.

Matt Haack, Punter

The Broncos signed Matt Haack as a free agent since there wasn't a punter on the roster, but he wasn't seen as a long-term option. After drafting Jeremy Crenshaw out of Florida in the sixth round, he will officially be in a battle to ever play a down for the team.
