Trump Airport's New Logo Sparks AI Generation Claims Online

The newly renamed President Donald J. Trump International Airport in West Palm Beach, Florida, is facing online criticism over its new logo, which many social media users say shows telltale signs of AI generation.

The airport, formerly known as Palm Beach International Airport, was officially renamed July 9 following legislation signed by Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis in March. The airport's three-letter code will change from PBI to DJT on Aug. 18, and the full rebrand, including new signage throughout the facility, is expected to cost up to $5.5 million. Trump called the renaming a "great honor" in a Truth Social post, thanking DeSantis and other Florida officials involved in the vote.

What People Are Pointing To

The airport's new logo, first revealed by Eric Trump in May, is designed as a gold-toned reimagining of the Great Seal of the United States. Critics online have pointed to several inconsistencies in the design that they argue suggest AI generation, including uneven talons, mismatched leg shapes, an inconsistent number of feathers between the wings, differing numbers of olive leaves on each branch, a shield with 11 stripes instead of the 13 found on the official Great Seal, and one crooked star among the field of stars above the eagle.

A Reddit thread cataloging the alleged flaws went viral, with one widely shared post titled "All the resources in the world and the logo for Trump Airport is AI generated." Another commenter wrote, "I spent two hours yesterday trying to figure out where this logo came from because it's not the official seal of the US or the presidential seal."

The Airport's Response

When Futurism asked the Palm Beach County Department of Airports whether the logo was AI-generated, a representative did not directly confirm or deny it, saying only, "The logo was provided to the airport. We do not have information regarding its production." Other outlets, including UNILAD, reported that the airport did not respond to separate requests for comment.

Design experts have noted that federal law places strict restrictions on the reproduction of the official Great Seal, meaning a municipal airport would likely be barred from using the real emblem directly, a detail some observers have suggested may explain the choice of an altered, seal-inspired design instead.

Part of a Broader Pattern

The airport renaming is one of several recent instances of Trump-related names appearing on public infrastructure in 2026. Earlier this month, a Tennessee bridge was renamed the Donald J. Trump Bridge in a ceremony attended by Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, and Florida's State Road 80 was renamed the President Donald J. Trump Highway effective July 1.

The logo controversy also follows a broader pattern of AI-generated content connected to Trump and his administration in recent months, including AI-generated videos and images shared on his social media accounts, some of which have drawn criticism or controversy of their own.
