A 34-year-old man was arrested in connection to the fatal shootings of three Native American individuals in Minneapolis, with police suspecting gang-related motives. The shootings occurred in a community with a significant Indigenous population, creating significant turmoil.

The victims of the initial shootings included a 20-year-old woman, a 17-year-old boy, and a 27-year-old man, while a 28-year-old man and another 20-year-old woman were hospitalized with life-threatening injuries.

A possible retaliatory shooting occurred the next day, resulting in the death of a 30-year-old man. This incident happened near an apartment complex housing the Minneapolis offices of the Red Lake Nation tribe.

Police Chief Brian O'Hara mentioned that the shootings might stem from gang disputes based on the 'lived experience' of local residents, though the exact motives are still being investigated.

The suspect was captured by a combined operation involving the U.S. Marshals Service and an FBI SWAT team. As of Thursday evening, he had not been formally charged and remained in custody at the Hennepin County jail.

The incidents have raised concerns within the Indigenous community south of downtown Minneapolis, as they deal with the aftermath of these violent events.

Authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances and motives surrounding these shootings, with hopes of preventing further violence and retaliation within the community.
