Gang ‘stabbed teen to death & chopped off testicles in bid to sell them for £100,000 on black market’
Context:
A teenager from Bhopal was lured by a gang in a bid to harvest his organs for a black market sale, with motives tied to a social media video promising a life-changing payout. The main suspect, a 20-year-old student, allegedly directed others while posing as a doctor and coordinating the attack, which left the victim stabbed and mutilated. The body was recovered days later, and investigators say the group attempted to secure buyers but failed, disposing of the organs in lakes. Police and divers continue to pursue leads, including potential buyers, as they seek a fuller account of the sequence and who else was involved. The case follows a prior, separate organ-trafficking incident reported abroad, underscoring a broader criminal threat.
Dive Deeper:
Rehan, a 17-year-old market vendor, was lured to a secluded area in Bhopal on August 6 by two youths who offered a trivial sum to help with a staged fight near Khatlapura on Lower Lake.
The main suspect, Zoheb Khan (20), allegedly recruited others, guided the murder via video calls, and posed as a doctor to convince the group he knew how to remove the organs.
The assailants stabbed Rehan repeatedly, and his testicles were removed and kept on ice for two days as they sought a buyer who never materialized.
After the failed attempt to sell, Khan allegedly instructed the group to dump the organs in separate lakes; Rehan’s body was recovered August 10 from Lower Lake after being identified by a tattoo.
Police recovered the knife believed to have been used and are deploying divers while questioning possible buyers to determine if any sales were planned; investigators also anticipate further disclosures from the suspects.
