Poppi to Pay $8.9M in Settlement Over ‘Gut Health’ Claims

If you’ve sipped on Poppi in the past few years, thinking it was boosting your gut health, you’re not alone. The colorful, sparkling prebiotic soda has been a hit on social media and grocery shelves since 2020.

Now, it’s at the center of an $8.9 million class action settlement over allegedly misleading marketing. Poppi, formerly owned by VNGR Beverage and now partnered with PepsiCo, promoted its drinks as being “gut healthy.”

But, according to a recent lawsuit, those claims were not backed by solid science. While the company has agreed to settle the case, it has not admitted to any wrongdoing. Still, if you’ve purchased Poppi anytime between January 23, 2020 and July 18, 2025, you may be entitled to a refund.

Poppi Settles Class Action Lawsuit for $8.9 Million. Find Out How to File a Claim

Let’s start with the heart of the lawsuit: false advertising. Poppi claimed its bubbly drinks supported gut health, largely due to the inclusion of prebiotics.

But, the lawsuit argued that the small amount of prebiotic fiber in each can, about 2 grams of inulin, was not enough to make a meaningful impact on digestive health.

Many consumers said they felt misled, especially those who bought the drinks specifically for the advertised health benefits.

While Poppi never marketed itself as a cure-all, the implication that the soda could significantly support gut health was seen as inaccurate by those who filed the complaint.

Who’s Eligible for a Refund?

If you bought any Poppi drink during the eligible time frame, you can file a claim. This includes all flavors and package sizes, from single cans to larger multipacks. Even if you no longer have a receipt, you may still qualify.

Here’s what you could receive:

  • $9 per 12- or 15-pack

  • $6 per eight-pack

  • $3 per four-pack

  • $0.75 per single can

If you don’t have proof of purchase, there’s a reimbursement cap of $16 per household.

To claim your consumer refund, visit the official settlement website, and fill out the form online or send it in by mail. The deadline to file is September 16, 2025.

What’s Next for Poppi?

Despite the controversy, Poppi continues to be a popular choice among health-conscious consumers and soda alternatives. The brand has made some adjustments to its marketing while still highlighting flavor, fun, and functionality. Now supported by PepsiCo, it remains a strong competitor in the beverage world.

Yet, this settlement serves as a reminder that not every “healthy” label lives up to its claims. Gut health, probiotics, and prebiotics are complex topics, and we, as consumers, deserve clear and accurate information when making choices about what to drink.

Claim Your Piece of the Poppi Settlement

Whether you loved the Classic Cola or preferred Raspberry Rose, if Poppi made an appearance in your fridge between 2020 and 2025, you may be eligible for a refund. With $8.9 million available and an easy claim process, it’s worth checking your eligibility.

And, to be fair, Poppi still brings plenty of sparkle to store shelves. But, its gut health promises are now being viewed with a more critical eye.
