What Is Labubu? How to Buy? The Plush Toys Are Going Viral Across the World!
Labubu, a character created by illustrator Kasing Lung, has become a global sensation in the collectible toy market, causing enthusiasts to queue overnight from Bangkok to Chicago. Originating from 'The Monsters' picture book series, Labubu is characterized by its playful yet benevolent nature, despite often causing unintended trouble. Pop Mart, which holds an exclusive license for Labubu, witnessed record-breaking sales with its first series launch in the art toy market in 2019. The toys have gained further popularity through social media influencers and celebrities like Lisa and Rihanna, who showcase them in their attire. With high demand, the latest 'Big Into Energy' blind box collection offers a variety of figures, including a rare secret figurine, while sales are facilitated through platforms like Amazon, TikTok, and AliExpress despite the impact of tariff wars on prices.
Labubu, a creation of Hong Kong-born, Netherlands-raised illustrator Kasing Lung, was first introduced in the 2015 picture book series 'The Monsters', inspired by Nordic mythology and featuring a world of magical characters.
In 2019, Pop Mart secured an exclusive licensing agreement with Kasing Lung, leading to a groundbreaking launch that set sales records in the art toy industry, reflecting the immense popularity and demand for Labubu merchandise.
The character's appeal has been amplified by pop culture icons such as Lisa and Rihanna, who have prominently featured Labubu plushies on social media, contributing to the toy's status as a highly sought-after collectible.
The 'Big Into Energy' blind box series offers consumers a chance to purchase one of six colorful vinyl pendants, with the excitement of potentially discovering an ultra-rare secret figurine, driving significant consumer interest.
Despite the challenges of ongoing tariff wars affecting the price, with individual figures retailing at $27.99, the toys are available through major online platforms like Amazon, TikTok, and AliExpress, expanding their accessibility to a global market.
Pop Mart's innovative marketing strategies, including social media campaigns and live events, have drawn large crowds to stores worldwide, where fans eagerly await new releases and unboxings of Labubu collectibles.
Labubu's whimsical design, characterized by high, pointed ears, and serrated teeth, coupled with a kind-hearted but mischievous personality, has endeared it to a broad audience, making it a standout in the collectible toy sector.

Labubu is taking over.
There’s a hot new frenzy among collectible toys, and it’s Labubu, a toothy monster that’s causing people to line up overnight everywhere from Bangkok to Chicago.
Created by Hong Kong-born, Netherlands-raised illustrator Kasing Lung, Labubu first appeared in The Monsters picture book series back in 2015. Pop Mart entered into an exclusive license agreement with the illustrator in 2019, and the revenue generated from the first series launch broke the sales record in the art toy category.
Here’s how Pop Mart describes the creature: “In 2015, Kasing Lung created a fairy world in three picture books inspired by Nordic mythology, and populated it with magical characters both good and evil, calling them The Monsters. Among them, the most prominent one was LABUBU, a small monster with high, pointed ears and serrated teeth. Despite a mischievous look, LABUBU is kind-hearted and always wants to help, but often accidentally achieves the opposite.”

The latest “Big Into Energy” blind box line features six colorful vinyl pendants, plus one ultra-rare “secret” figurine.

Fans have been lining up hours before Pop Mart stores around the world opened.
They’re going for a steep $27.99 at the moment, thanks to the ongoing tariff wars.
Amazon has an official Pop Mart shop, as does TikTok. There’s also an official shop on AliExpress.
