Tina Fey and Steve Carell, who first collaborated on the 2010 film 'Date Night', did not become friends until 15 years later, primarily due to their mutual shyness. During their initial work together, their interactions were limited as they often sat in polite silence, hesitating to communicate due to fear of intruding on each other's lives. However, their recent collaboration on the Netflix project 'The Four Seasons' provided a more conducive environment for them to connect and develop a genuine friendship. Steve Carell acknowledged this newfound camaraderie at the show's premiere, expressing that despite their past enjoyment working together, they were now 'super tight besties'. Both actors shared a mutual understanding and respect for each other's personal commitments, which contributed to the deepening of their bond during their latest project together.

Tina Fey and Steve Carell worked together on 'Date Night' in 2010 but remained merely coworkers for many years due to their shared introverted nature.

Both actors admitted to being shy, which led to them sitting in polite silence without breaking through to form a personal connection during their initial collaboration.

Their mutual hesitation to communicate, driven by respect for each other's busy personal lives, prevented them from becoming friends sooner.

It was during their recent project, 'The Four Seasons' on Netflix, that they finally connected on a personal level and established a friendship.

Steve Carell expressed at the show's premiere that it took 15 years for them to become close friends, highlighting their similar personalities and mutual respect for each other's boundaries.

The actors found that their protective nature towards each other's personal space inadvertently contributed to delaying their friendship.

Their new project together allowed them to become 'super tight besties', showcasing a deepened camaraderie and appreciation for one another.

Tina Fey and Steve Carell first worked together on 2010′s Date Night, but their relationship didn’t go beyond coworkers for well over a decade.

Steve Carell and I made a whole movie together without ever breaking through to the other side because we’re both very shy,” the 54-year-old Mean Girls star told THR.

“Without anyone to make us talk, he and I would both sit in polite silence. After working with this big group, I feel like Steve and I are actually all-the-way friends now,” she went on to say of their new project together, The Four Seasons on Netflix.

At the premiere of the show over the weekend, Steve agreed.

“It only took 15 years for us to become super tight besties,” he told THR.

“We had a great time together before, but we are super shy. This is about as gregarious as you will ever see me, right now, in this interview,” he said. “So, the two of us, I think we’re very similar in that we don’t want to bug the other — it’s like, ‘I shouldn’t text her, should I call her? No, she’s got kids, and they’re busy.’ But she was thinking the same thing, and we’re very protective of each other that way, I know she’s got a lot going on. So, yeah, on this one we became buds. It was really fun, she’s the best.”
