Tim Walz's Daughter Hope Walz Slams TikTok Star Kate Mackz for Interviewing Karoline Leavitt: 'Running As An Act Is Political'
Hope Walz criticized TikTok influencer Kate Mackz for her video featuring Karoline Leavitt, Trump's press secretary, arguing that it normalizes the Trump administration's policies. Hope emphasized that running is inherently political, a lesson learned from her father, Tim Walz, and highlighted the barriers that Trump's policies create for the running community. Criticizing Kate for leaving a video featuring her father pinned, Hope contended that it's a disservice to his opposing stance to the administration. She argued that balancing both sides in this context is not possible, as it represents a struggle between opposing values. The controversy reflects broader tensions over political representation and the responsibility of influencers in public discourse.
Hope Walz expressed disappointment in Kate Mackz for her video with Karoline Leavitt, suggesting it inadvertently supports and normalizes Trump's administration, which contradicts the values her father, Tim Walz, stands for.
Kate Mackz, known for interviewing celebrities while running, faced backlash for deviating from her usual format by filming a stationary interview at the White House, which upset her followers who expect her to maintain a non-political stance.
Hope Walz declared that running is a political act, a belief instilled by Tim Walz, highlighting the privilege associated with the sport, including access to time, appropriate gear, mental health, and a safe environment.
Hope criticized the Trump administration's policies, such as reduced mental health support and climate change funding cuts, arguing they hinder people's ability to participate in running, which undermines the inclusive spirit she believes Kate's platform should promote.
By keeping the Tim Walz video pinned, Kate Mackz is seen by Hope as failing to take a firm stand against policies and values that are antithetical to her father's, leading to accusations of moral ambiguity in a context Hope views as a battle between good and evil.
The incident underscores the complex role of influencers in political discourse, where their platform choices can reflect and influence public opinion, challenging them to navigate the political implications of their content.
Hope Walz's comments reflect a broader societal debate about the responsibilities of public figures and influencers in shaping and endorsing political narratives, particularly in divisive political climates.

Running influencer Kate Mackz has faced intense backlash for her new video with Trump‘s press secretary Karoline Leavitt and now Tim Walz‘s daughter Hope Walz is slamming her too.
Kate is known for her videos where she interviews famous people while jogging, with recent videos including Patrick Schwarzenegger and Julianne Hough. Back in October, she released a video with Vice Presidential candidate Tim Walz just weeks before the election.
This week, Kate dropped a video that she filmed at the White House with Karoline and there’s no running involved in the video at all.
Kate‘s fans have been disappointed at her for giving a platform to the Trump administration to normalize the way they’re running the country. All the while, Kate has still kept her Tim Walz video as her top-pinned video.
Hope slammed her for this.

“Running as an act is political,” Hope said in a video on her account. “And you know who taught me that? Tim Walz. The first thing he told me when I was first getting into it in high school was that running is a privilege. Whether you do it recreationally, race competitively, or participate at an elite level, it is a privilege. You need time. You need the right gear. You need a healthy mental state. You need a safe, stable environment. And not everyone has that.”
Hope also brought up the policies that the Trump administration has been pushing, including reducing mental health support and cutting climate change funding. “All of those things are preventing people from getting into the running community, which is what I thought Kate’s platform was for,” she said.
She added, “We should not be normalizing these people. I’m not going to tell anyone what to do with their page, but I think it is insulting to my dad to leave a certain video pinned, especially when he stands for quite literally the opposite of what this administration is doing. You do not get to both-sides this. It is not both sides. We are quite literally talking about good versus evil here.”
