Sydney Sweeney is set to star and executive produce in Jon M Chu's film adaptation of 'Split Fiction', a video game that blends fantasy and science fiction elements, following the story of two authors, Mio and Zoe, who are ensnared in their own fictional worlds.

The script for 'Split Fiction' is being penned by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, known for their work on 'Deadpool' & 'Wolverine', which suggests a strong narrative and engaging screenplay.

The specific roles Sydney Sweeney will play, either Mio or Zoe, have not been disclosed yet, adding an element of anticipation and speculation around her portrayal in the movie.

Jon M Chu, in addition to directing 'Split Fiction', is also engaged in a variety of other adaptations such as 'Wicked: For Good', Dr. Seuss’ 'Oh, The Places You’ll Go!', and Britney Spears’ 'The Woman In Me'.

Sydney Sweeney's career is bustling with numerous projects including 'The Housemaid', a Christy Martin biopic, a Gundam live-action movie, and an Apple TV+ feature titled 'Echo Valley', alongside her ongoing work on 'Euphoria'.

The 27-year-old actress has reportedly been cast as a lead in the 45-year-old director’s adaptation of the video game Split Fiction, according to Variety. She is also set to executive produce.

Deadpool & Wolverine co-writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick are set to pen the script.

If you don’t know, Split Fiction “blends fantasy and science fiction, following a pair of authors, Mio and Zoe, who become trapped in the worlds they wrote.” The video game is a “co-op adventure game that features gameplay mechanics involving split-screen combat, platforming challenges and differing abilities for each character.”

Per Variety, it’s unclear at this time if Sydney will portray Mio or Zoe.

In addition to Wicked: For Good, Jon M Chu also has adaptations of Dr. Seuss‘ “Oh, The Places You’ll Go!” and Britney Spears‘ “The Woman In Me” books in the works, as well as a film adaptation of the musical, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.

For Sydney, she has several projects in the pipeline that have either already been filmed or are still in the works, including The Housemaid , the Christy Martin biopic, a Gundam live-action movie and the upcoming Apple TV+ feature Echo Valley. She’s also currently filming the third and final season of Euphoria.

It was also reported this week that Sydney is producing a film adaptation of another video game.
