Lily Allen publicly apologized for her harsh criticism of Katy Perry following an all-female Blue Origin space flight, which she and her podcast co-host Makita Oliver deemed 'out of touch' given the economic struggles many are facing. Initially, Allen's comments questioned the relevance and timing of the brief space journey amidst a looming recession and high living costs. In a later podcast episode, Allen expressed regret for singling out Perry, attributing her actions to internalized misogyny and unnecessary personal attacks. She acknowledged that while she disagreed with the concept of the space flight, Perry was not solely responsible and should not have been a target of her criticism. Allen concluded by offering a sincere apology to Perry, recognizing the hurt her words could cause and emphasizing that her initial comments were unjustified.

Lily Allen initially criticized Katy Perry and the Blue Origin space flight during a podcast, calling the event 'out of touch' amidst economic hardships faced by many.

She questioned the purpose of the brief space journey, citing rising living costs and financial struggles as reasons why such an event seemed inappropriate at the time.

On a subsequent podcast episode, Allen apologized for her remarks, admitting that her criticism of Perry stemmed from her 'own internalized misogyny' and was unjustified.

Allen clarified that while she disagreed with the space flight, Perry was not the only person involved, and her fame made her an unfair target of Allen's criticism.

She expressed regret for using Perry's name in her critique, recognizing that it was unnecessary to personalize her disapproval and acknowledging the potential hurt it could cause.

Allen concluded with a direct apology to Perry, hoping to mend any personal damage her comments might have caused, even though she believed Perry was unlikely to listen to her podcast.

The apology highlighted Allen's reflection on her actions and her understanding of the broader implications of her words within the context of industry relationships.

Lily Allen is backtracking her recent criticism of Katy Perry and the Blue Origin space flight.

After the all-female space flight earlier this month, Lily, 39, and her Miss Me? podcast co-host Makita Oliver, slammed the event, calling it “so out of touch.”

“Do we want to talk about Katy Perry and her mates all going up to space for 12 minutes?” Lily questioned. “I mean, what the f–king hell is that all about? But in all seriousness: What? Why? For why?”

“We’re on the brink of recession, people are really fucking struggling to make ends meet and get food on their table,” the English singer added. “I don’t know about how things feel in London, but in New York it feels f–king expensive at the moment. It’s hard to leave the house without spending $500 — and I’m not even joking.”

“Because we’re talking about a very famous female person who’s a bit divisive, I would actually like to apologize for being mean about Katy Perry last week,” Lily started.

“There was actually no need for me to bring her name into it. And it was my own internalized misogyny,” she continued. “I’ve been thinking about it a lot and it was just completely unnecessary to pile on with her.”

“I disagree with what it was that they did, but she wasn’t the only person that did it. She was possibly the most famous and the one that — it divides people the most,” Lily explained. “I don’t know, there was something in me that decided to choose her as the person… Well, anyway, I’m just sorry. I would have been hurt if it had been me and someone in my industry used me and my name.”

She ended by saying, “I’m sorry. I’m sorry, Katy Perry. I know you don’t listen to the show, but yeah, sorry.”

Lily Allen wasn’t the only celeb to criticize the Blue Origin space flight.
