Here's Why Robin Roberts Isn't on 'Good Morning America' This Week

Robin Roberts is noticeably missing from Good Morning America.

The 64-year-old longtime co-anchor of the show has not appeared on the program this week, which she’s starred on for over 20 years.

Of course, fans might be curious about what’s going on with Robin, and why she isn’t on the show right now.

Her most recent appearance on GMA was on Thursday, July 24, when she sat alongside her fellow co-host Michael Strahan.

Robin Roberts is not hosting GMA because she is in Rwanda, and it’s for a good cause.

She shared why she was leaving GMA briefly, revealing that she went to Kigali, Rwanda, for a volunteer trip.

“We’re in #Rwanda as guests of @inmuwetrust_ & @giantsofafrica celebrating young basketball players across Africa. Every last Saturday in the month in Rwanda is a national day of service,” she wrote on Instagram.

“Wonderful way for the two of us to celebrate 20 years as a couple…it certainly has been an adventure! 💕” she added.

The getaway is also a celebration of her and wife Amber Laign‘s 20 years together as a couple. The two met on a blind date in July 2005 and got married in September 2023.

Robin previously addressed those plans in an interview.

“Because we wanted to celebrate that way, because our time together has been an adventure,” she explained to People. “And we thought what better way than to be with the gorillas … in Rwanda?”

Rebecca Jarvis has been co-hosting GMA during Robin‘s absence.

Her return date to GMA has not been confirmed, but according to Page Six, she is expected to be back on August 4.
