Happy Gilmore 2 Is Now On Netflix

Get ready to head back to the green. Happy Gilmore 2 officially teed off on Netflix, and fans couldn’t be more excited.

Nearly three decades after Adam Sandler first channeled his inner hockey player-turned-golfer, he’s dusting off his clubs and stepping back into the role that made “just tap it in” a household phrase. And, yes, he’s bringing Shooter McGavin with him.

Whether you grew up quoting the original or just love a good underdog sports comedy, this sequel promises a hilarious, heartfelt return to the course with a few surprise swings along the way.

Happy Gilmore 2 Is Now on Netflix: Here’s What We Know About the Sequel Starring Adam Sandler

The Happy Gilmore 2 release date is officially upon us. It hit Netflix on Friday, July 25. So, if you’re planning a viewing party or just want to relive your childhood, you might want to stock up on the snacks and get ready to stay up late.

Like the original, the film blends slapstick comedy with surprising emotional moments. This time, there's a fresh twist involving family, legacy, and a not-so-friendly rivalry.

In this long-awaited sequel, we see that Happy has walked away from golf after a tragic accident, trading tournaments for a quieter life.

But, when his daughter Vienna, played by Sunny Sandler, lands a spot at a prestigious ballet academy in Paris, he’s suddenly in need of $300,000. That’s when the clubs come back out again.

This time, the course has changed. An energy drink mogul (played by Benny Safdie) is trying to turn traditional golf into a wild, extreme sport.

So, Happy returns not just to win money, but to save the game itself. Along the way, he runs into his old nemesis Shooter McGavin (Christopher McDonald), and, to no surprise, the rivalry still runs deep.

Adam Sandler leads the cast once again, joined by several beloved characters from the original Happy Gilmore. Here are some of the fan-favorites:

  • Adam Sandler: Happy Gilmore

  • Christopher McDonald: Shooter McGavin

  • Julie Bowen: Virginia Venit

  • Ben Stiller: Hal

  • John Daly: himself

And it’s not just a nostalgia trip. The chemistry between Sandler and McDonald is as sharp as ever. So, if you’re a fan of the original movie, you’ll be thrilled to see these two on the green again, trading barbs and battling putts.

New Cast Members and Celebrity Cameos

Happy Gilmore 2 also brings in some fresh faces and a wild mix of celebrity cameos. Some new additions include:

  • Sadie Sandler

  • Sunny Sandler

  • Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio (Bad Bunny)

Netflix didn’t hold back on the cameos, either. We can expect surprise appearances from:

  • Eminem

That’s a lot of big names, even by Sandler standards.

We get a glimpse of Happy training again, Shooter looking smug as ever, and even a dramatic slow-motion golf ball montage. It’s clear the filmmakers know exactly what made the original work and lean into it with plenty of wink-and-nod humor.

What to Expect From This Sequel

While Happy Gilmore 2 promises plenty of laughs and a return to familiar territory, it also brings something new: heart. With Happy’s daughter now central to the story, there’s more emotional depth this time around.

That doesn’t mean the film skimps on absurdity. We can still expect to see wild training montages, golf cart stunts, and plenty of sports satire.

Sandler co-wrote the sequel, so we can trust that it will stay true to the tone of the original while updating the humor for a new generation.

There’s also a touch of commentary about how sports and streaming have changed since 1996. But, the core message remains: never underestimate an underdog with a hockey stick.

Time to Tap Back In

Whether you’re here for the nostalgia, comedy, or just to see Shooter McGavin get what’s coming to him, Happy Gilmore 2 is shaping up to be one of the most buzzed-about 2025 movies.

With Adam Sandler back in the driver’s seat, Netflix bringing the heat, and a cast full of fan favorites and fun surprises, it’s the summer sequel we all needed.
